Bharti Airtel, which is the second company to launch 4G VoLTE service in the country after Reliance Jio, has started its 4G VoLTE service in Mumbai today. According to Airtel, it will not charge extra data for VoLTE and the charge of the call will be in line with the existing plan and pack advantages, while data is needed to make voice calls over the VoLTE network.

Bharti Airtel Director (Network) Abhay Sawargaonkar said in a statement that since the atmosphere of VoLTE-powered devices has begun,

We believe that this is the right time to launch VoLTE calling under the service portfolio. He further said that the company will speed up installing VoLTE in the coming time and will cover all parts of the country. Let us tell you that currently only Reliance Jio in India is providing Voice service across the country through 4G VoLTE technology.

Vittal had earlier said that the company will start VoLTE services across India by the end of the current financial year. An official of the company confirmed it. The official said that existing customers using 4G SIM do not have to change SIM for this service.
